Where Young Children Explore, Grow And Learn Through Play

71 Aubrey Rd, Silverdale/Stillwater, Auckland

Aubrey ELC is the culmination of a decades-long dream to offer early childhood education with a real family feel in Silverdale

At Aubrey ELC, we’ve created a learning environment that nurtures well-rounded, confident children who will thrive in our communities.

We believe both indoor and outdoor environments play a vital role in inspiring curiosity and encouraging children to learn. Our unique kindergarten is set on a five-acre rural property, providing children with plenty of space to explore, play, and connect with nature. Large outdoor play areas and the presence of friendly farm animals in the surrounding paddocks make for a rich and engaging learning experience.

We make learning enjoyable by fostering a fun, hands-on approach where children feel encouraged to participate and explore. Every child is given equal opportunities to learn, grow, and develop in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Since opening in 2008, Aubrey ELC has grown into a small, family-friendly early childhood centre with a close-knit community. With a maximum of 50 children, every child knows their teachers and peers, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere where parents also feel at home. Many families have sent several children to our preschool, from siblings and cousins to children of past students. Our experienced teachers come from the local community, with some having been part of Aubrey ELC since the beginning.

If you're interested in enrolling your child at Aubrey ELC, we’d love to hear from you. We welcome families from Stillwater, Silverdale, and the wider upper North Shore, Rodney, and Hibiscus Coast areas, including Dairy Flat, Redvale, Whangaparāoa, Ōrewa, and Pūhoi.

At Aubrey ELC our focus is on the children

At Aubrey ELC we place great emphasis on achieving good outcomes for our children to create independent children who demonstrate self help skills. We do this by:

Challenging and extending children by catering to their interests with a child-led, play-based learning programme.

Seeking contributions from parents and wider whanau through feedback forms, email and face-to-face communication to ensure their aspirations for children are being taken on board. Assessing, planning and evaluating to ensure our learning is always based on the child's current level but will enable them to develop further and caters to the interests a child has at the time.

Providing two learning areas

  1. The Teina area for infants and toddlers up to 2 and a half with a higher teacher to child ratio.
  2. The Tuakana area for our preschools with a more developmentally challenging curriculum. We also have a dedicated 4 year old “Donkey Group” preparation for school programme.

From the feedback we have received, we know that parents are happy with our centre and the outcomes their children have achieved. We often get feedback after children have started school as to how well their child has transitioned and is achieving in their new learning environment.

Affordable early childhood education and care for families

As a registered Ministry of Education early childhood centre, Aubrey ELC offers the 20 Hours ECE subsidy for children aged 3, 4, and 5.

This government-funded subsidy provides up to 20 hours of early childhood education per week, with a maximum of 6 hours per day. It is not means-tested—all you need to do is let us know at enrolment that you’d like to use it, and the subsidy will be applied directly to your fees.
